Description
Manbush Trail Tour is a four-day hiking excursion that typically starts in Unua village on South East Malekula and ends in Lawa village in South West Bay. When your truck arrives at Unua village to begin your trekking, it will take two hours to get there from Lakatoro or Norsup Airport. Along the way, your local guide will show you around the gardens, coconut plantations, rivers, mountains, and villages where the majority of the people still live by the old methods. You will learn how to live in and survive in the forest while you are trekking. In addition to various activities that you might participate in, your guide and the potters will show you and demonstrate many things that were done traditionally.

Along with these opportunities, you will be able to engage in activities like fishing for fish and eels, hunting for birds and wild animals like pigs and cattle, practicing traditional bush medicine, cooking using traditional methods, trapping wild animals and birds, and much more. You will spend your first night in a local village in a local house among the locals after a five-hour hike.
After walking for about six hours on the second day, you will construct your own thatch and camp for the night. If the weather permits, you will be able to view the twin volcanoes on Ambrym (Mt. Marum and Mt. Benbow) glowing at your location.
You will trek for about six hours on the third day before spending the night at a guest home in the village of Lempong.
On the final night of your walk, you will stay among the locals in Lawa village, which is located on the southwest portion of Malekula, at a guest house. The following day, you will either take a plane from Lawa to Windua airport (30 minutes to Santo and 45 minutes to Port Vila) or a boat from Lambumbu to Lakatoro, where you will spend two hours and thirty minutes before returning by road to Lakatoro or Norsup Airport. Please enquire if you wish to explore more about South West Bay area. There are other lodging options and things to do for individuals available.
