Description

The ROM Dance is unique to Ambrym Island. The Fanla community is a little community located uphill through a tropical jungle, about 20 minutes by truck or 50 minutes by foot. The residents of Fanla will show you how to execute the well-known Rom dance, which is typically done on special occasions. This dance is connected to magic and is said to have an impact on crops. The traditional bamboo flute melody will keep you amused in addition to the entire presentation. You'll get to see some magic shows and interact with actual "nambas," which are guys dressed in traditional garb that covers their penises when they perform at significant cultural events. Each mask is distinct and one-of-a-kind, and only skilled mask makers can create them in a very limited amount of time. It is difficult to remain unenthralled by the complex and magnificent costumes, music, and rhythmic movements of the Roms. Ambrym Island is also well-known for its exquisite wood, palm, and volcanic stone artwork, which is available for purchase straight from the creator.
